Flies hovering around the kitchen or dining table? Try these simple cleaning habits and see how Resparkle All Purpose Cleaner fits into your routine.
You’ve cleared the plates, but a fly is still circling the dining table. Then another appears near the kitchen bench while you’re preparing dinner.
Before reaching for a spray, look for what might be bringing them back: crumbs, sticky spills, uncovered food or a nearby bin. A few small cleaning habits can help you stay on top of those spots.

Quick answer: What can you do about flies in the kitchen?
Clear away food scraps, wipe up spills, cover food and keep the bin closed. Clean the dining table and food preparation areas after use, including the easy-to-miss spaces beneath fruit bowls and appliances.
Some customers have told us they noticed fewer flies around areas they cleaned with Resparkle Natural All Purpose Cleaner. Our family noticed fewer flies when we tried it at home, too. These are personal experiences, not a tested fly-repellent result. The product is made for everyday surface cleaning.
Why do flies keep coming back?
Sometimes the attraction is obvious, like an uncovered plate. Other times it’s a little juice beneath the fruit bowl, residue on the dining table or a spill beside the bin.
If flies keep returning to one area, take a closer look around it. Finding and cleaning the source is more useful than repeatedly wiping the same clear spot.
A simple kitchen routine
1. Clear food and scraps first
Put leftovers away, clear plates after meals and remove food preparation scraps from the bench. Check the fruit bowl for overripe fruit and wipe up any juice beneath it.
2. Wipe the dining table
Crumbs and sticky marks can linger after everyone has left the table. Clear the surface, then wipe it with a cleaner suitable for the table’s finish. Follow the product directions before using the table for food again.
3. Clean around food preparation areas
Pay attention to benchtops and the spaces beside chopping boards and appliances. Move items when needed so you can clean underneath. Keep cleaning spray away from uncovered food, and follow the label directions for food-contact surfaces.
4. Check the bin area
Empty food waste regularly and make sure the lid closes properly. If you notice a spill, clean the rim, lid and floor beneath the bin. Flies returning after a clean may point to another source nearby.
Where does Resparkle All Purpose Cleaner fit?
Resparkle Natural All Purpose Cleaner is made for everyday surface cleaning, including kitchen grime and grease. It has a lavender and eucalyptus scent.
We’ve received feedback from customers who noticed fewer flies after cleaning with it, and we noticed the same at home when we use it. However, please use the cleaner for its intended surface-cleaning purpose, not as an insect spray.
Customers also tell us what they like about the cleaner itself. In his review of the Natural All Purpose Refills, Bill Baxter wrote:
“Just love them a great cleaner on all surfaces and a lovely gentle scent.”

Kit or refills: which should you choose?
If you’re starting out, the Natural All Purpose Kit comes with a reusable 500 mL glass bottle and two sachets that make 1 L of cleaning solution.
Already have a suitable, clean and clearly labelled spray bottle? You can choose the Natural All Purpose Refills. The eight-sachet pack makes 4 L in total.
To prepare a 500 mL bottle, pour in one sachet first, slowly add 500 mL warm water, and leave it to dissolve for approximately 30 minutes. Follow the current product directions, and never mix it with another cleaner.
Frequently asked questions
Does the lavender and eucalyptus scent repel flies?
We haven’t tested that claim for this cleaner. Our family and some customers have noticed fewer flies after cleaning, but their experiences don’t tell us exactly why it happened or promise the same result in every home.
Can I use it on my dining table and kitchen bench?
The product is intended for kitchen surface cleaning. Check its directions and your surface’s care instructions. Move food out of the way while cleaning and follow the label directions before using a surface for food preparation or serving.
Can I spray it directly on flies or food?
No. Use it to clean suitable surfaces according to its directions. Keep the spray away from food and don’t use it as an insect spray.
What if flies keep returning after I clean?
Check for overripe fruit, food waste, spills beneath the bin or a way flies are getting indoors. You may need to find and remove another source nearby.
Start with the next meal
After cooking or eating, clear the scraps, wipe the surfaces you used and check the bin. It’s a small routine that makes the kitchen easier to keep clean.
