TL;DR
We're Resparkle, and this is our honest assessment of our own product, including the places where we don't win. The short version: the lab data, the EWG ingredient ratings, and the compostable packaging hold up. The price, the retail availability, and the scent intensity do not suit every household. Read on for the specifics.
Why a brand-published review?
The "[brand] review" SERP slot will get filled. Either Resparkle fills it with an honest account, or a third-party site fills it with thin content and no first-hand knowledge of the formula. We'd rather you read something accurate.
We are not a neutral party. We built the product, we profit from selling it, and we believe in it. What we can offer that most reviewers cannot: exact formulation detail, the lab test context, and a genuine interest in telling you when this isn't the right choice for your household. Credibility isn't built by saying we're perfect. It's built by telling you exactly where we're not.
What you're actually buying
Resparkle Natural Laundry Powder: a concentrated, plant-based laundry powder in an industrially compostable bag, manufactured in Australia.

The formula is 4-in-1: it washes, sanitises, removes stains, and removes odours. Every ingredient is EWG-rated 1 or 2 (the lowest-hazard tier on the 1 to 10 Environmental Working Group scale). The full ingredient list, with per-ingredient EWG ratings, is in our ingredient transparency article.
Where we get it right
Lab performance
The single most important claim: our powder is independently lab tested to outperform CHOICE's #1-rated supermarket detergent on five common stains. That's not a soft "comparable to" claim. It's a direct benchmark against the best-performing supermarket detergent in Australia's most rigorous consumer testing. Most eco laundry brands do not publish performance testing against a named conventional benchmark. We do. The lab test summary is on the product page; the full methodology report is available on request.
EWG ingredient ratings
Every ingredient in our laundry powder is rated 1 or 2 on the EWG hazard scale. That's the lowest-toxicity tier on a 1 to 10 scale used to grade household chemicals. No ingredient in this formula sits above a 2. For the full breakdown of what each ingredient does and why it's in the formula, see Resparkle ingredients: what's actually in our powder.
Packaging
The bag is plastic-free and industrially compostable. We also run a bag-return program: accumulate 10 or more used bags and request a postage-paid return label. No soft-plastic guilt. Among Australian eco laundry powders, this is one of the few genuinely zero-plastic packaging formats at retail scale. For full context on what "compostable" actually means versus "biodegradable," see [compostable vs biodegradable packaging explained](**compostable vs biodegradable packaging explained**).
Social impact
Resparkle is manufactured in Australia. We partner with Brunswick Industries (which employs people with disabilities) and Brite Industries. Made in Australia, contributing to meaningful employment. Not a marketing afterthought.
Awards
Gold and Editor's Choice winner, 2020 Australian Non-Toxic Awards. Reviewed in Inside Out, The Herald Sun, and Broadsheet, among others.
Where Resparkle doesn't win
These are real gaps. We're naming them because they're true, and because a review that only lists wins isn't useful.
1. Not available in Coles or Woolworths
Resparkle is direct-to-consumer only. We ship Australia-wide via Australia Post, but if you want to grab laundry powder during a grocery run without thinking about it, you can't. For households that specifically want offline retail availability, Ecostore (available at Woolworths) or Earth Choice (available broadly at supermarkets) will suit the shopping pattern better. Note that neither publishes lab test results against a named benchmark; we're trading convenience against proof.
2. Mid-pack on cost per wash
At $0.33/wash, we're not the cheapest eco option. Koala Eco runs at around $0.30/wash. Ecostore, depending on pack size and dose, can come in lower. If your single filter is price per wash and you're prepared to accept plastic packaging and no published performance benchmark, there are cheaper options. Our $0.33 reflects a concentrated formula (2 to 3 teaspoons versus 30g-plus for most competitors), compostable packaging, and Australian manufacturing, but it doesn't beat the field on price alone.
3. Lighter scent than some alternatives
The Lemon Eucalyptus variant uses Australian lemon eucalyptus oil. It's a clean, subtle scent rather than an intense essential-oil hit. If you love a strong fragrance finish on your laundry, brands like Koala Eco or Kin Kin Naturals lead on scent intensity. Our Fragrance-Free variant suits eczema and asthma households well (see best natural laundry detergent for eczema in Australia), but neither variant is a scent-forward product. That preference is completely valid.
4. Narrower product range
Koala Eco and ecostore offer broader cleaning ranges. Resparkle's core is laundry powder, stain remover, and hand wash. If you want a single brand to cover every surface in the house, our range is narrower. We're building, but we're not there yet.
5. Full lab report not published on PDP
The lab claim ("independently lab tested to outperform CHOICE's #1-rated supermarket detergent on five common stains") is published on the product page. The full methodology summary is available. The complete lab report itself is not yet live on the PDP. We're working on it. In the meantime, the claim stands on the test, not on the publication of paperwork.
Who Resparkle is for
Resparkle is the right choice if:
- You want independent lab proof, not just a "natural" label
- You want every ingredient EWG-rated 1 or 2, with the list published
- Plastic-free packaging is a genuine priority, not a bonus
- You're comfortable buying online
- Sensitive skin, eczema, or young children in the house make ingredient transparency non-negotiable
Resparkle is probably not the right choice if:
- You need to pick up detergent at the supermarket
- You want the cheapest-per-wash option without weighing proof and packaging
- A strong, lasting fragrance is your main product signal
Frequently asked questions
Is Resparkle laundry powder actually tested, or just "natural"? It's independently lab tested. The specific benchmark: outperforms CHOICE's #1-rated supermarket detergent on five common stains.
How much do I use per load? 2 to 3 teaspoons per full 7 to 8kg load. That's roughly a third of what most standard powders require, because the formula is concentrated. For the full dose guide by load size and machine type, see how much laundry powder per load.
Is it safe for sensitive skin and eczema? Every ingredient is EWG-rated 1 or 2. The Fragrance-Free variant removes even the essential oil component. Many customers with sensitive skin and eczema use it comfortably. We're not formally dermatologist-tested; see best natural laundry detergent for eczema for a fuller picture.
How does it compare to Koala Eco? Resparkle is a powder, Koala Eco is a liquid. Resparkle has published lab testing against a named benchmark; Koala Eco does not. Koala Eco has stronger scent and a broader range. Full breakdown at Resparkle vs Koala Eco.
What's the Complete Laundry Bundle? Four 600g packs of laundry powder plus a 700g universal stain remover, at $89. The Complete Laundry Bundle also includes an extra 10% off plus free shipping on Subscribe and Save.
The verdict
If independent performance data, published EWG ingredient ratings, and plastic-free packaging are the filters that matter to your household, Resparkle is the right choice among Australian eco laundry powders in 2026. The lab result holds, the ingredient list is clean, and the dose math works at $0.33/wash for 55 washes.
The gaps are real: DTC-only, mid-pack price, lighter scent, narrower range. None of them undermine the core case, but they do tell you when a competitor is a better fit.
